The algorithm of the function fails at some point. The problems I pointed out are technical issues. More likely they will keep development expenses to minimum and enjoy the rental bonanza/revenue. However with over 8 years of stagnation prior to that i highly doubt that this trend will continue. I know that they will have at least 1 more strong release just like Adobe did to lure users on rental. Sadly I simply cannot trust this company any longer. I want to be hopeful with Tom Hudson on board and the powerful updates they have released recently. It’s not hard to see that if this erosion continues then XSI fate might follow eventually. It’s also the only? windows-only dcc app while industry loves linux. Without plugins such as Vray ( that is now in most apps ) all max has going for it is rich support for adsk IO formats (+ few minor perks). When you want to animate something and realize that anim tools are from 90s or that you cannot even LINK/Append an object(or CHARACTER) from another scene without it crashing, you will understand how hopeless it really is. Problematically ADSK will not cross develop features between max and maya so the once “swiss knife” will be more and more stagnant, biased (towards architecture). Most defiantly areas like modeling, modifiers, splines are worth taking note from. Max is brilliant application, im sure many works floating online are a testament to that. I dont want to say anything bad about max as i been very loyal to it over 15 years. Recent Tissue addon covers a little bit same area. Maybe the topology pattern tool can interest a bmesh dev or an addon maker. And curve editing does not seem to be part of 2.8 targets. In this importer, it is also lacking a Z offset for importing several objects that are surrounding each over.īut the only hope to see them coming would be that a new dev is interested by this area.Īctual devs are all busy to others important domains. If with a modifier key, it could be auto or vector handles, spline creation would be faster.Īctually I prefer to do complex shape in inkscape and import them via svg importer. There are probably a lot of improvements that can be brought to Blender’s splines.Īn extrude tool that support control of handle would be welcomed. The ones for masks or curve stroke method in paint modes are easier to use. It is true that blender’s ones are not as easy to edit in 3Dview. Here, fdfxd is just saying that 3dsmax’s splines are good. Compare Max’s “Conform” to Blender’s “Shrinkwrap Modifier”Ĭompare Max’s “Skin wrap Modifier” to Blender’s “Transfer Weights” or “Data Transfer Modifier”Ĭompare Max’s “Multi Resolution Modifier” to Blender’s “Decimate Modifier”

I created 36 different simple drag-and-drop animations, in two separate lengths (4 and 8-second versions). So I set out to simplify the process of animating text in Camtasia. But there are just a couple of steps extra to set up the animation, compared to drag-and-drop animation found in online apps. True, we have the Behavior function in Camtasia, which is great. But one handy feature of these new editors is the ability to quickly add animations. I much rather do my editing in Camtasia or Premiere. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of new video editing tools you find in online apps like Canva. The addition of other pharmacotherapy, such as atypical antipsychotics or topiramate, may be helpful for residual symptoms. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (i.e., fluoxetine, paroxetine, and sertraline) and the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor venlafaxine effectively treat primary PTSD symptoms. Pharmacotherapy is useful for patients who have residual symptoms after psychotherapy or are unable or unwilling to access psychotherapy. First-line treatment of PTSD involves psychotherapy, such as trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th ed., text revision provides diagnostic criteria, and the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 uses these diagnostic criteria to help physicians diagnose PTSD and determine severity. Assessing for past trauma in patients with anxiety or other psychiatric illnesses may aid in diagnosing and treating PTSD. Symptoms typically involve trauma-related intrusive thoughts, avoidant behaviors, negative alterations of cognition or mood, and changes in arousal and reactivity. PTSD may develop at least one month after a traumatic event involving the threat of death or harm to physical integrity, although earlier symptoms may represent an acute stress disorder. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is common, with a lifetime prevalence of approximately 6%. 4/5/2024 0 Comments Play rapelay for freeSimply put, the ESRB is responsible for ensuring that every videogame on the market has a rating to help people determine what is and isn’t appropriate, and you’d better believe that if RapeLay ever lined up for an English-language release it’d be given the fastest Adult Only classification in the history of the industry. Speaking of our side of the pond, I guess it’s necessary to point out once again that we already have a mechanism for dealing with games like this: It’s called it the Entertainment Software Rating Board. And why would they ban what they don’t perceive as a problem? You might as well ask Americans to start banning insipid sitcoms. I suppose you could demand that they ban it, but that becomes a whole ‘nother ball of confusion.Īs Leigh Alexander noted in her excellent article for Slate, this kind of game isn’t just tolerated in Japan, it represents a significant part of the country’s videogame industry and is very much a product of the “social environment that birthed it.” In other words, while we in the West find RapeLay and its ilk outrageously offensive, that’s just not the case in Japan. The Western world lost its collective shit when RapeLay turned up for a day or two on Amazon, but as you’d know if you were actually paying attention, it’s never been available for retail sale outside of Japan. I’m not even sure how this proposed ban would work. But is a ban really the approach we want to take? After all, I don’t want to be “the guy who likes rape games.” Like most Western gamers, I think they’re abhorrent. Defending the existence of games like RapeLay without defending the games themselves is a bit of a balancing act. How the hell am I supposed to oppose that? But then I made the mistake of thinking about it for a minute and it occurred to me that I was being asked to speak out against a ban on a game that was entirely about raping women. Still, it seemed simple enough at first blush: Censorship is bad, therefore I’m opposed, it’s Miller time. I’m no expert on eroge games, Japanese culture, rape, censorship or anything else related to the game. I have no idea how I got dragged into this. But dated or not, when a story is plastered across CNN’s front page it’s bound to attract attention, and so it was that I got an email a few days ago asking if I’d be interested in taking part in a discussion on the topic, opposing a ban on the game. This, as some folks like to say, is old news. It’s all bullshit, of course the game is four years old, it was never on store shelves anywhere but Japan and this whole OMG RAPELAY controversy flared up and blew over more than a year ago anyway. The infamous RapeLay is back in the news, thanks to a breathless report by CNN warning that the game had “gone viral” after being pulled from store shelves around the world. Like the original the production quality is extremely high and there are even animated sequences during some of the more important scenes. Even though the ending may bring a tear to your eye, they are all the same, so once you read through the game there is little incentive to go back. The game does boast 11 endings, two with each one of the main heroines. The game’s choices are a lot more spanned out compared to those found in Extra and they have almost no value to the outcome. He grows both physically and mentally throughout the story, making it easy to be pulled into the whole situation and feel exactly what the main character is feeling It makes you think about the peaceful life you have and what would happen if you were to lose it one day. This time around you already know all of the heroines, so the game instead focuses on the main character. Combine this with the constant BETA threat and the whole game always gives off a feeling of suspense and mystery.Ī part of the game is given to each of the main heroines, but that is not the main focus of the game. Yuuko sensei always seems to be keeping some information from you, while Kasumi, a silent mysterious girl, is always lurking in the bottom restricted levels of the facility. Romance and comedy have taken a side step this time around. Here you will also learn to use a rifle, sword and treat wounded comrades on the battlefield. Most of these things, including the history of the world, are explained during your classes. Why are girls in the military, why do they fight against the aliens in mechs instead of planes, everything is explained in detail. Most of the things that you might generally ask yourself about other mech anime is addressed here. But once they start piloting TSF (their mechs) he turns out to be one of the best pilots ever seen (I’m glad playing all those video games finally paid off for him). Since our protagonist is not very athletic and he didn’t even attend a club in his world, he has a hard time keeping up with the rest of the team. You are put in a squad which accidentally (or not) is composed of everyone from Takeru’s class in his original world except for Sumika who is nowhere to be found. Here you discover that Takeru is actually in an alternative dimension where humans are on the brink of extinction and in constant war against an alien threat called BETA. He is of course captured and interrogated and finds out that the vice-commander of this base is in fact Yuuko sensei. Thinking this is a dream, he happily runs to school, which is now an army base. Confused as to why his childhood friend, Kagami Sumika, didn’t come and wake him up as usual, he goes outside and finds the whole city in ruins, with mech remains all over town. I always thought the "will not work with Kontakt Player" disclaimer was something that NI required of developers. As you say, except for the 15 minute limitation, there's no functional difference when using full-Kontakt libraries in Kontakt Player, and I've used many in my compositions. I too, only have Kontakt Player, and have accumulated quite a few libraries meant for the full version of Kontakt. While on this topic, anybody know of any other free libraries compatible with Kontakt Player? Seems very rare given the cost to do so. Am I the only one who didn't understand that these libraries would still work in Kontakt Player in demo mode? And for many of these, the point of them is to try them out, possibly looking to buy a full library it is based on or another library from the designer. I had completely skipped downloading them before because I thought they simply would not work! I can understand this remark being made in regards to paid libraries, because better safe than sorry with communication with customers, but free ones? Not once with all the free libraries I have encountered, that said they required the full version of Kontakt, did they say that they would still work in the Player version for 15 minutes at a time. Looking at that page should make folks especially thankful to designers who do make libraries compatible with Kontakt Player, not to mention the free ones listed above!īut the point of my post here is because I discovered that the FREE libraries I have wanted to try that explain, "REQUIRES FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT! WILL NOT WORK WITH KONTAKT PLAYER!" Actually do work, but they are only limited in time (15 minutes per session). s/pricing/ They have to pay a pretty penny it seems. However, it comes down to licensing with NI and whether the library creators are willing to pay to have the libraries fully compatible with Kontakt Player (not requiring the user to have the full version). I always figured the full version was simply for those who want to create libraries and the Player version for those who simply want to use them. It wasn't clear to me before why some libraries were 'not compatible' with Kontakt Player (thanks to Enochlight for pointing this out). And both of these free libraries also come with serials to officially add them to Kontakt Player. There are some free libraries out there, aside from the ones NI offers, that are fully compatible with Kontakt Player, such as Sennheiser's DrumMic'a (thanks to esselfortium for pointing this one out) and Embertone's Arcane (some great sounds in this one, including a nice solo vocal and fun game). I have however bought a few libraries compatible with Kontakt Player, such as Sonuscore's The Orchestra and NI's Thrill. So I still don't have the full version of Kontakt and haven't found a reason to buy it ($399 full price). Thirdly, and as importantly, just because you're not at the scene and not in any immediate risk, this does not mean that you will not be affected. By looking through the killer's helmet camera, you are adopting his gaze, and actively participating in this indignity. If you want to know more about the victims, wait for their life stories to emerge. He was determined to humiliate them, to make them look like targets in a video game. Tarrant not only brutally brought this moment forward for dozens of innocent people, who had so many more years to live and so much more than him to give to their families, communities and to the country they made their home. Secondly, it is difficult to imagine a more intimate moment in any person's life than dying. There's plenty to be said for simply declining to oblige their desire for notoriety. Whatever false modesty Tarrant might profess in the tedious manifesto ascribed to him, a quality shared universally by terrorists of all ilk is the desire to stand out from the crowd, to be seen-if only by themselves-as heroes and possibly martyrs. The very fact terrorists exploit people's interest in dramatic events should caution you against typing in that search string, and certainly against sharing it with others.įirstly, by doing so you'd be playing up to the narcissism of someone who couldn't come up with any more adequate way to generate renown than to massacre innocent people. (I'm looking at you, Google and YouTube-not to mention Facebook, which hosted the live stream to begin with.) And you don't even need to be on 8chan to stumble on the footage: Search engines' predictive search will actively encourage you to browse for it when you type a related term. You don't need to be an 8chan denizen to be tempted by firsthand footage of an event dominating the news cycle, just as most people probably wouldn't look away if they came by the scene of an attack-or even a particularly bad accident-in real life. A small minority of us might be scanning the footage in desperate hope to establish the whereabouts of our loved ones.īut plenty of people are today looking at the Christchurch video for no real good reason-just because the draw of the drama and the apparent safety of viewing it from miles away, behind a computer screen. Some of us, like journalists and police, are professionally obliged to view distressing imagery to try to discern valuable new information, whether for investigation purposes or to better inform debate. Dozens of copies of what appears to be footage from a helmet-mounted camera are circulating on the darker corners of the internet and are being persistently posted on more mainstream platforms such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, which don't always manage to catch the video before it goes up. Horrific videos like the one posted by the Christchurch mosque shooting suspect Brenton Tarrant are geared to appeal to the morbidly curious, and appeal it did. |
